ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Preview: Canada vs. Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe are expected to win this match as they compete against a side that lacks the experience of playing on a big stage.

London Start Time: 04:00

Venue and Pitch
The match will take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur and will be a day game. There will be no demons in this track, although the heat and humidity will make the conditions tough for both teams. Bowlers from both sides will have to be patient and stick to a consistent line and length and hope for the batsmen to make a mistake.

Team News
Due to political reasons, the African nation has lost a bunch of their star players over the past few years. Tatenda Taibu remains the senior pro and along with captain Elton Chigumbura will have to lead the way. The Canadians on the other hand have nothing to lose and will do their best to get their first points up on the board.

Match Odds
The stadium will be fairly empty as this is a match between two minnows. That being said, this will also be Zimbabwe’s best chance of winning a world cup match as Canada are a fairly inexperienced side. The odds of Zimbabwe winning are currently (1/4). Zimbabwe will look to bat first, put up a big score and then put pressure on the Canadian batsmen.

Top Batsman
You can expect this to be a low scoring game as both sides lack the firepower to push the total over 300. A score of 250 or less is a safer bet. For Zimbabwe, their middle order batsmen Craig Ervine (11/2) and Terry Duffin (11/2) are expected to do well and hold the Zimbabwean innings together.

The Canadians are a bunch of fairly unknown players who have not played on the international stage. Their best batsman is expected to be RA Cheema (11/2).

Featured Bet
For Zimbabwe to win this match, they will need to ensure they get off to a good start and that means Brendan Taylor will have to fire at the top of the order. He has the experience and the stroke play to take the attack to the Canadian bowlers and will be a strong contender for the man of the match award.

Match Predictions
The side that wins the toss will look to bat first. Zimbabwe will hold their nerve and win this match.

Best Bet: Brendan Taylor (11/4)
