IN THE 16th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 between South Africa and Netherlands at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali, Netherlands captain Peter Borren won the toss and asked the South Africans to bat first. PCA Stadium at Mohali is hosting the first match of the World Cup 2011.

Both group 'B' teams of the Cricket World Cup 2011, South Africa and Netherlands have played two World Cup matches with each other in the past. South Africans registered victory by a margin of 160-run in 1996 and 221 runs in 2007 World Cup respectively.

South African and Netherlands match could have been called a no match before last evening’s upset when in Bangalore Ireland made a bold statement by beating England. The match had its ups and downs but a great inning from O’Brien changed everything and brought the match to Ireland.

But Steyn has so much exceptional ability to swing and reverse swing the ball even at relatively lower speeds that most people usually concentrate on the swing and so usually are under the (wrong) impression that Steyn always bowls express speed. But he doesn't always. On the contrary Morkel does that more often. As for this match, SA should use this match to get back to full rhythm before the two big ones”.

What Happened So Far: South Africa beat the West Indies in its opening match and looked comfortable in doing so, while Holland are coming off defeats to England and most recently a crushing loss to the West Indies.

What could happen: After missing the win against West Indies, all-rounder Jacques Kallis he return against the Netherlands where he is expected to join Smith, AB De Villiers, Hashim Amla and JP Duminy in an explosive batting attack.

Problem: Netherlands depends on certain players and fail to respond when those individuals don’t get going.

Form: South Africa have won three of its last five; Netherlands have lost four of its last five.

Netherlands captain Peter Borren was surprised by the punishment his team received against the West Indies – stating that they were not at their best on the day.

“We certainly have more potential than what we showed against them [West Indies],” he said.

Ryan ten Doeschate, after an impressive inning against England, failed to repeat the effort against the Windies but will be hoping to deliver another super performance to give his side a chance against the South Africans.
