Some good bowling by the spinners and good fielding by the Bangladeshis helped the home team restrict Netherlands to a meagre 160 and then a patient 73 by Opener Imrul Kayes helped Bangladesh thrash Netherlands by six wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat first but their decision backfired as they got off to a very slow start with openers Eric Szwarczynski and Wesley Barresi adding just 28 runs off nine overs.
Shakib al Hasan then trapped Barresi leg before wicket in the 10th over, While Abdur Razzak had pinch-hitter Mudassar Bukhari caught behind in the 13th over. Szwarczynski scored 28 off 63 balls and just when it looked he was settling down, skipper Shakib ran him out in the 23rd over to reduce Netherlands to 66 for 3. Tom Cooper  played well hitting some innovative shots but didn't last long as he was run out by a combination of keeper and skipper Shakib.
Alexei Kervezee  and ten Doeschate tried to put up a strong resistance with the highest partnership of the innings (34), but it was all in vain as the former was stumped off Suhrawadi Shuvo in the 34th over. Abdur Razzak then had De Grooth trapped leg before wicket for four with the first ball of the 38th over, while he had Buurman caught by Imrul Kayes off the third ball to reduce Netherlands to 127 for 7 and then another two run outs meant that ten Doeschate was left stranded on 53* at the other end as Netherlands were bowled out for 160 with four overs remaining.
In reply, Bangladesh had a scare in the first over as they lost in-form Tamim Iqbal in the first over of the innings cleaned up by Bukhari, but Imrul Kayes and Junaid Siddique put on a crucial 92-run partnership off 20 overs to make sure that Bangladesh were in a comfortable position at 92 for 2 in the 21st over. Bangladesh lost Siddique in the 22nd over playing a loose shot, but Kayes carried on as brought up his half-century off 68 deliveries adding 59 runs for the third wicket with Shahriar Nafees before Cooper got into the act twice claiming the wickets of Nafees (37), bowled and Shakib (1), caught by ten Doeschate in two overs to reduce Bangladesh to 153 for 4 in the 38th over. But Kayes (73*) and  Mushfiqur Rahim (11 not out) made sure that there were no more slip ups as they finished the game off in the 42nd over with six wickets remaining.
Imrul Kayes was named the man of the match for his patient knock of 73 off 113 deliveries with six hits to the fence.
Result: Bangladesh won by 6 wickets (with 52 balls remaining)
Scores: Netherlands: 160/10
              Bangladesh: 166/4
Man of the Match: Imrul Kayes

Bangladesh vs Netherlands ICC cricket world cup live cricket score, Net 10

Though Bangladesh would be playing the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup on Monday at the Zahur Ahmad Chowdhary, Chittagong, they have South Africa in their mind, as they would be playing them in their last league match.

Reason: Since they cannot take a risk to think for a must win against the Proteas. Instead they would fire all the cylinders to settle the issue by beating Holland on Monday to get a birth in the quarterfinals.

Both the teams have met each other just once in an ODI and it may surprise many that in that game the Netherlands won by six wickets.

And listen to what Peter Borren, the Dutch captain has to say for this match. He says that it would be their intention to ruin the party for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh fans are on cloud nine and in this match their expectation must be flying high particularly after the win over England in the nail-biting encounter. Bangladesh's run rate is in negative and this could be a problem for them in the final reckoning.

But this euphoria would come under heavy test when the Bangla team face the Netherlands who would play for their prestige as the doors for them have already shut. Any complacency, natural to come after such a win, could easily provide an occasion to stage an upset.

Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes once again would be expected to give his team solid support.

So, a win for Bangladesh could put big teams like England and West Indies in some big thinking. This group also consisting of South Africa and India is still wide open.

Bangladesh's biggest hope is their spinners. Captain Shakib Al Hasan himself has been quite successful with the ball.

Ryan ten Doeschate is one of the few names of the Netherlands team who could really attract the spectators with his performnce. But is not that at sometimes, a new star comes and bedazzle the world.
