After a neck to neck fight with Irish players India moves to its capital to conquer Dutch. MS Dhoni’s men are set to have a relief win after a couple of breath taking matches against England and Ireland. Netherlands would be a stepping stone for Indians to leap into the quarter finals easily.

All eyes are set on Sachin Tendulkar who is just 18 runs away from a record 2000-run landmark in World Cups. Cricket world hoped the little blaster should have crossed it against Ireland. But as usual Sachin decided to break and erect records with a lot of patience.

The match at Delhi is expected to draw a huge crowd of 42000 who may cheer for the Deli trio, Sehwag, Gambir and Kohli. Among these three big hitters Gambir is the only batsman to find a century while Sehwag has no memorable innings at home so far.

Still the fans of men in blue here in home and away expect a Diwali like cracks from probably the best batting line up of the world. Five out of the top seven batsmen has already hit either a ton or half while captain Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan always try to blaze.

Netherlands on the other hand has lost all of their World Cup matches so far and approved their title as minnows of the mega event. Ryan ten Doeschate is the only player to score a century in this WC while Tom Cooper only past 50.

However, Dhoni s not ready to take the game as a practicing session. So far we have had a good game, a tight game and a close game. We have shown signs of improvement. What we need now is an easy win," Indian captain said before the match.

Netherlands (LLLLL) have had three tough outings against test playing nations — England, West Indies, South Africa. They racked up 292 runs in a losing cause against England before going down to West Indies and South Africa by 215 and 231 runs respectively.

* There is not much to choose between teams batting first or chasing at Kotla. However, given India’s laboured performance against Ireland, the hosts might choose to chase again and get their nerves straightened before the business end of the meet. Netherlands performed well chasing against West Indies and South Africa and are likely to elect to bat first. The average score batting first at day/night matches in the Kotla is 260.

* All seven Indian batsmen have scored some runs this World Cup with Virender Sehwag (215 runs), Sachin Tendulkar (186 runs) and Virat Kohli (142 runs) in the top 11. Sehwag (127) and Pathan (124) are the third and fourth in the list of those with the best strike rates (minimum 30 balls faced).

* One expects Indian bowling to be the weak link but contrary to expectation, the fast bowlers ( Zaheer Khan with eight wickets and Munaf Patel with seven) are in the Top 10 wicket takers so far. Part-time spinner Yuvraj Singh may have grabbed five wickets against Ireland but the specialist spinners have failed to make an impact despite the turning pitches. Harbhajan Singh has the best economy rate for Indian bowlers (4.41) but he is 46th in the list of all World Cup bowlers.

India vs Netherlands: Piyush Chawla gives firts blow

Chawla dismissed good looking ES Szwarczynski for 28 runs. Electing to bat first, Szwarczynski and Wessley Berrasi provided cautious start to Dutch side.
Duo made best opening wicket partnership for the Netherlands in this World Cup. Duo added 56 runs before Szwarczynski failed to read the pet googly from spinner Piyush Chawla.

Earlier, Netherlands skipper Peter Borren won the toss and elected to bat first without any hesitation. The pitch at Feroz Shah Kotla is expected to go slower in the second innings.

Ind vs NED: Live scorecard

Indian skipper MS Dhoni said that he would have wanted to bat first on this track but said that it would be an exposure for the side to chase a total on slow and low track.
There is one change in the Indian side. Ashish Nehra will play his first game of World Cup. Munaf patel has been rested. Dhoni once again showed faith on Piyush Chawla.

ICC CWC STREAMING: IND vs NED

Team India has not had easy outings so far in the tournament. They won against Bangladesh in their opener by 87 runs. If the bowling was not out of order, the victory margin could have been a lot bigger. Then despite scoring 338 against England they could not defend well and the match ended in a tie. They won against Ireland on Sunday but it was not exactly a walk in the park.
Naturally, Dhoni wants an easy game against the Orange as India's next two league matches will be against South Africa and the West Indies.
"It's the last easy game for us in this tournament. Hopefully, we will come out of it without any trouble," Dhoni said ahead of the match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Tuesday.
"We have improved as a team in the last three matches. Bowling is a bit of a concern but on the whole I am happy with our performance so far," he added.
Meanwhile¸ Dhoni's counterpart Peter Borren is all revved up and sees the match as an opportunity to show the world what they are capable of doing.
"We need to play our brave cricket against India. Our performance has been a little disappointing in the last couple of games. But Wednesday is the perfect occasion for us to turn it around," said Borren.
Dutchman Ryan Doeschate, who is under the spotlight after a brilliant ton England last month, is too not overawed ahead of the big encounter.
"It indeed is the biggest challenge for us so far. We will try to take on the Indian bowlers head-on," he said.
Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to make his first appearances in the tournament as India would surely want everybody prepared for the tough challenges ahead.
"We do not rule out making changes in the league stages. As of now all 15 are available for selection," Dhoni said.
India have played the Netherlands only once in a World Cup and they won comprehensively at Paarl in South Africa in 2003.
Clearly, India go as favourites but looking at the trend in the tournament, this won't be an easy match against the Dutch who have already played once at Kotla and know the conditions as well as the Indians, if not better.

Ind vs Ned: Netherlands hope to get Tendulkar, Yuvraj early

NEW DELHI: Mindful of Sachin Tendulkar's ability and having watched Yuvraj Singh's all-round show, the Netherlands skipper Peter Borren says his bowlers would look to get the two India batsmen out early when they face off in a group B match of the cricket World Cup on Wednesday.

Borren conceded that it would be quite an uphill task for the European nation to beat the world number two side.

"Sachin is a legend and on top of his game in the World Cup, and he is someone everyone around here in the tournament and people like us look to play against. He is a great player," Borren said on the eve of the match at the Ferozeshah Kotla.

"But at the same time he is a batsman who can be dismissed like other batsmen and we are looking forward to that. Any of our bowlers having the opportunity to dismiss him and that will be a great entertainment. You need to take your chances against these guys and we are hoping that tomorrow it's going to be the case," he added.

"About Yuvraj he is a dangerous player. He got a few runs the other night. He also picked up five wickets. So you need to create plans for these guys. You need to get them out early," Borren told reporters at the pre-match media interaction on Tuesday.

The Netherlands suffered their third consecutive defeat in the tournament, against South Africa, by a massive 231-run margin in Mohali last week, but Borren said his side still harbours hopes of advancing to the knockout stage, and is looking forward to playing an "exciting" game against the co-hosts.

"This sort of attention and excitement around the match is something very new to us and we are not used to it. Absolutely we have not seen this much interest generating for a particular game. We are looking for an exciting game tomorrow. It's going to be pretty unique experience for us," he said.

"Realistically, we need to take the opposition on. It's a big challenge. Playing these guys in their conditions is going to be a task but we will try to create a surprise. We are a good side. We need to bowl a disciplined line and do some extraordinary catching and fielding. Cricket is a funny game and talented team is capable of creating an upset.

"We are looking at the challenges ahead and a big challenge is tomorrow. If we win rest of our games from here on, we have got a realistic chance of advancing further in the tournament. Ireland and Canada have managed a win in the event and now, we are looking to have one under our belt," he said.

The team was talked about in certain circles after its batsmen dished out a spirited display against England in their opening match, but Borren is disappointed that they could not do well in their last two outings.

"We are disappointed with our last few performances with the bat, especially after the England one, where we were very much near to score a win. We have a strong batting line-up that indicates that we are a good side. We need to up the ante as far as our batting is concerned.

"Our batsmen have got one hundred and a fifty in this tournament. They have not played to their potential so we need to come out tomorrow as a unit," he said.

"We have also not fired as a bowling unit so far and that is one area we need to look at tomorrow. We need to attack new ball bowlers tomorrow," he added.

The Dutch captain didn't divulge the details on what would be their gameplan against India, saying that they need to take several factors into account before preparing any roadmap.

"Gameplan against India is going to be different. We need to look at several factors. It's about facing individuals from the side with regards to both batting and bowling. I think we will be discussing those things later. We have played on this ground before and we know the conditions well. I think the gameplan will be to play to our full potential," he said.

On whether they would like to bat or bowl first, the Dutch captain said, "We will look at the conditions tomorrow and then decide accordingly."

Centurion in the match against England, Ryan Ten Doeschate, when asked about the prospect of playing against his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir, said, "I did not get a chance to chat with him or meet him but tomorrow is a big game for us and we are concentrating on that. Every game is a big game for us. I will talk to Gautam after the match."

Ireland's upset win over England has given a boost to all the associate nations, and Borren acknowledged that.

"We take inspiration from the Irish side. In their game against India, Dhoni and Yuvraj had to bat really well against them. Ireland are a very disciplined side. Hope we can learn something from them. They bat, bowl and field well."
